PROF. DR. VOLNEY DE MAGALHÃES CÂMARA
Volney de Magalhaes Camara
He holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1974);
Master's degree in Occupational Medicine from "The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine" at the University of London in 1977;
PhD in Public Health from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in 1986 and Postdoctoral studies in Health and Environment at ECO/PAHO in 1993;
Consultant for the Pan American Health Organization in Washington, USA and for the Evandro Chagas Institute and Ministry of Health in Brazil;
Professor in the Graduate Program in Collective Health at IESC/UFRJ and in the Graduate Program in Epidemiology and Health Surveillance at the Evandro Chagas Institute;
Territorial Director in Brazil of the Revista de Salud Ambiental (Madrid, Spain);
Conducts research in Environmental Health, focusing mainly on topics related to the epidemiology of the effects of chemical pollutants, notably mercury.
PROF. DR. ARMANDO MEYER
Armando Meyer
Holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade Gama Filho (1990-1994), a master's degree (1996-1998) and a doctorate (2001-2005) in Public Health from the Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública – ENSP/FIOCRUZ, with 2 years (2002-2004) as a sandwich student at the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology, Duke University, North Carolina, USA.
Participated in an environmental and occupational health training program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (2009-2011), New York, USA.
Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Epidemiology, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences – NIEHS/NIH (2015-2016), where she worked as a visiting researcher on the longitudinal Agricultural Health Study.
Was a visiting researcher at the MRC Centre for Environment and Health, School of Public Health, Imperial College London, United Kingdom, from December 2022 to November 2023.
He has been Professor of environmental and occupational health at the Institute of Collective Health Studies of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro since 2006.
Was a fellow of the FAPERJ Young Scientist of Our State program (2009-2012). Has been a FAPERJ Scientist of Our State since 2021.
Has been a CNPq research productivity fellow, level 2, since 2013. Was Vice-Director of the Institute of Collective Health Studies – IESC/UFRJ from 2010 to 2011.
He was Director of the Institute of Collective Health Studies – IESC/UFRJ from 2011 to 2014.
Served as Coordinator of the UFRJ Graduate Program in Collective Health (Master's/Doctorate, level 5) from 2017 to 2022.
