PIPA in Golden August

Researchers and students from the PIPA/UFRJ project actively contributed to the Golden August event on August 23, 2023, organized by the Manoel José Ferreira Municipal Health Center, Planning Area 2.1. The meeting took place in the gardens of the Museum of the Republic, in Catete. There, a round table discussion was organized to facilitate interaction between health professionals and the community on essential topics such as Breastfeeding, Mental Health, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the event, the team offered a community coffee break and held a raffle for prizes. The audience consisted of women living in the area who use the primary health care unit as a point of reference. PIPA professionals reiterated the invitation to those who had been absent from follow-up assessments, encouraging their continued engagement in the project.

This event is part of the efforts of the Golden August campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, highlighting the benefits that this act provides for both mother and baby. The actions are supported by initiatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health (MS), which promote breast milk as the most complete nutrition in the first months of a baby's life, reinforcing the international campaign in support of breastfeeding.
